Concept to Completion!
Diggers Accor Ibis Styles was originally conceived in Late 2010 and will be completed in December 2014.
Big projects take lengthy periods of time and the new addition to the diggers family, our Ibis Styles 52 room Hotel is certainly that, and has taken up many days / nights with planning, research and consultation.
A stable and effective Board of Directors during this period of the development phase has been critical in ensuring our immediate and future developments. Without this and the overall leadership of our Chairman, our Hotel development dream wouldn’t have got off the ground.
When our old tennis court area had to be closed down, the Board was unsure of which was the best avenue to go in the replacement of same, however remaining conscious of the needs of the community and the growing reputation in the tourist market of The Entrance as a must visit area, the Hotel thought was conceived.
From the early initial conceptual architect sketches, to the recently completed Accor approved Ibis Styles design, all aspects of the Hotel were measured or eliminated dependant on their capacity to grow membership and provide a WOW for local tourism.
The end result needed to be a product which would in the majority be used 365 days of the year and meet diggers user pays criteria to contribute to the overall coast in running what has now become a very large business on the Central Coast.
Throughout our discussions with Accor and consultation with all key stakeholders in WSC and local government and sporting organizations, it became evident that the area lacked a big name brand accommodation facility at a star level to allow for families and sporting groups the opportunity to stay in luxury at a budget price attached to a magnificent facility such as diggers.
To allow diggers Board to approve and proceed with the development of our band new Hotel many feasibility and due diligence studies were undertaken, commencing some 18 months previous to the start of construction. This due diligence assessment included financial feasibilities and market research on Hotels in our region including but not limited to occupancy and rack rates, facilities and star levels, which allowed the diggers Board to establish design briefs for each aspect of the facility, including the impact of the previously mentioned occupancy levels, economic impact analysis on our existing business, revenue generating possibilities and major cost impediments.
Construction commences 14th January 2014 and a journey of 50 weeks lies in wait with a completion timeframe of mid December 2014, when the Coast’s newest venue selling sleep will open to the public with the newest member of the diggers family proudly on show.
Again it is important to reiterate that none of this would have been possible, with such thoroughness in every aspect without the full commitment of your Board of Directors and Management during this very lengthy period of concept to completion.
